A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from TEAMtalk suggesting that Neil Lennon is keen on Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan.
The Bhoys may well be prioritising signing a new goalscorer this month. Odsonne Edouard has been outstanding once again this season. But Celtic’s lack of options up top have been exposed when he has been unavailable.
TEAMtalk reports that one player that the Hoops want is Hogan, despite his disappointing time at Stoke City.
Hogan joined the Potters on a season-long loan deal in the summer. But the report suggests that Michael O’Neill is ready to let him return to Villa, and that may pave the way for the 27-year-old to head to Parkhead.
And some of the Celtic fans on social media clearly feel that O’Neill’s willingness to let Hogan return to his parent club should set the alarm bells ringing.
Hogan – who cost Villa £12 million (via BBC Sport) – has scored just 12 league goals since joining the Villans in January 2017.
And a number of supporters on Twitter have insisted that Celtic should go nowhere near the Republic of Ireland international this month.
They seem extremely disappointed to have been linked with the Villa man. And they are hoping that there is nothing in the rumours.
Here is what some of the Celtic fans made of the reports…
