Celtic fans react to Jota display vs Bayer Leverkusen

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jota after the Hoops were beaten by Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League on Thursday.

Two first-half goals, along with a penalty and a stoppage-time strike after the break gave the Bundesliga side the win at Parkhead. And in truth, few Celtic players seemed to emerge with any sort of credit.

There were mistakes, with neither centre-back impressing. Meanwhile, David Turnbull made a huge error before the opening goal.


But one player who did receive some praise was Jota. The 22-year-old was seen as the one player who may get Celtic back into the contest.

No Hoops player completed a greater number of successful dribbles than the Benfica loanee (Whoscored). He seemed to provide the quality that the rest of the ranks lacked against Leverkusen.

And while Celtic fans were given little to smile about, many have taken to Twitter to laud Jota’s display for the Bhoys.

Several have implored the Hoops to make his deal permanent at the earliest opportunity. He has been a revelation since his arrival in the summer.

They are adamant that Celtic must pay what it takes to get the move sorted because he has been superb during his loan.
