Celtic fans react to Greg Taylor contract reports
A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports that the Hoops have opened talks with Greg Taylor over a new contract.
What’s the story?
According to the Daily Record, the Hoops are in discussions with the left-back, whose current deal at Parkhead expires at the end of next season.
It is claimed that the Scotland international is in line for a pay-rise. And his contract could be extended by a further three years.
The news has come as a big surprise to many on social media, with Taylor enduring a mixed time since arriving from Kilmarnock back in 2019.
He has arguably not been able to establish himself as the kind of left-back Celtic can rely on for years to come.
He has shown glimpses of his quality while with the Bhoys. But the 23-year-old has never been able to really kick on.
Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou clearly sees Taylor as a big part of his plans moving forward.
Unfortunately, the majority of Celtic fans do not appear to see the situation the same way.
Plenty have expressed their disappointment. They have insisted that Celtic should have a much better player in that position.
‘No harm to the guy, but…’: Celtic fans react as Greg Taylor starts talks over new contract
Even those who do not seem to mind Taylor having his contract extended have suggested that he would ideally be an understudy for someone else.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Celtic supporters make of the reports linking Taylor with a new contract at Parkhead…
No harm to the guy , but he is average at best

He’s probably worth keeping as back up, but he’s should never be thought of as the 1st choice lb.

If the manager thinks he deserves a new contract we are in bigger bother than I thought, he isn’t good enough to be a Celtic player like a few others in the squad

Not his fault he is the best LB at the club

This can’t be true please

As long as he’s not seen as the long term first choice at LB, I’ve no problem with Greg Taylor getting a new contract. It’s not as if we’re flush with cash and can afford 2 quality players for every position.
