Celtic are reportedly closing in on Birger Meling. According to The Herald, Meling is expected to follow Jonathan Afolabi through the door as Celtic push some late recruitment.
The need for a new left-back was laid bare in last week’s disappointing Champions League exit. CFR Cluj shocked Celtic in the Champions League and many fans questioned Neil Lennon’s decision.
Kieran Tierney has left and Boli Bolingoli has arrived at left-back. But Bolingoli was left out of the match against Cluj with Callum McGregor playing at left-back instead. Lennon clearly doesn’t have confidence in Bolingoli and he played one of his best midfielders in that role.
Meling could be the fix for Celtic if he joins. The Norway international currently plays for Rosenborg, who are in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League. But Celtic want to bring him to Parkhead for their Europa League campaign.

The 24-year-old played against Celtic last year and he impressed. Now, he could team up with fellow countryman Kristoffer Ajer in the Celtic defence. Here are some tweets discussing this last-minute transfer rumour.
