A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Nir Bitton’s display as the Hoops returned to domestic action with a 1-0 win over Dundee United on Saturday.

The scoreline suggests a narrow win for Neil Lennon’s side. However, while Celtic were some way short of their best, they were only denied a bigger win by an inspired goalkeeping performance.

Nevertheless, it did appear that the supporters were not entirely convinced by the performance. But one of the players who did receive a huge amount of praise was Bitton.

The Israel international has played at centre-back for the Bhoys’ last two games. In truth, it looked to be an area where Celtic may be vulnerable after a shaky display in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock earlier in the month.

But Bitton has been outstanding since coming into the side. And his performance was lauded by the fans on social media.

Many praised the way that the 28-year-old always seems to do his job with minimal fuss. He has often stepped up when deployed in a central role.

And while his form will not alleviate all of the concerns about Celtic’s centre-back options, the fans are clearly confident that they can rely on a steady display from Bitton whenever he is called upon.
