Celtic fans react on Twitter to Mohamed Elyounoussi’s display

Understandably, it proved difficult for Celtic fans to take many positives from their 2-1 defeat on Wednesday – but Mohamed Elyounoussi’s display was one that impressed some of the supporters on social media.

Neil Lennon’s men were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Ferencvaros at Parkhead.

It arguably has the potential to be a key moment in dictating Celtic’s future. In truth, it would not be a surprise if some of those involved had made one of their final appearances for the club.

Few of those who featured for the Hoops covered themselves in glory. But one player who has been given some credit is Elyounoussi.

The Norwegian was labelled by a handful of fans as the one player who stepped up. He looked lively for much of the game. And he provided the assist for Celtic’s equaliser with some smart work around the edge of the box.

That is not to say that Elyounoussi has only been lauded by the fans. There has been some criticism from the supporters who believe that he should have done more to try and ensure that an upset was not on the cards.

But several have suggested on social media that he was one of the better performers in what will go down as one of Celtic’s most disappointing defeats in their recent history.
