A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jonny Hayes’s performance during the Hoops’ 2-0 win at Hearts that has seen Neil Lennon’s men extend their lead at the top of the table.

Celtic now lead Rangers by five points. The latter do have a game in hand, but the champions have certainly put the pressure on their rivals with their latest victory.

Goals from Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham saw the Bhoys take a 2-0 lead into the break. It was a solid performance from the league leaders who were beaten on their first trip to Tynecastle last season.

But one player who seemingly did not impress the supporters was Hayes. The Republic of Ireland international returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday. However, his presence in the team has left plenty of Celtic fans scratching their heads.

Nevertheless, there were a number of supporters who could not understand why Greg Taylor did not start. They felt that Hayes, for all his energy, was poor on the ball and has to be dropped.

One Celtic fan noted that Hayes’s work-rate is a novelty that has now worn off. With two natural left-backs in the first-team squad, some are adamant that it is time for Lennon to use Hayes less often.

Here is what some of the Hoops fans were saying about Hayes’s performance following their latest win…
