A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to laud Hatem Abd Elhamed’s display as the Hoops cruised into the next round of the Champions League qualifiers with a 6-0 win on Tuesday.

Neil Lennon’s side crushed KR Reykjavik at Parkhead. They were ahead inside six minutes and put the final exclamation point on the victory in stoppage-time.

Unsurprisingly, there were a number of impressive performances on show. But Elhamed’s display was perhaps one that would have potentially provided Lennon with the most satisfaction.

The 29-year-old has not had the easiest time since moving to Scotland for £1.6 million last year (via Herald Scotland). He managed just five Scottish Premiership appearances during his first season at the club.

But the full-back provided a brilliant reminder of his quality in their latest game. He provided two assists for the home side.

And it is fair to say that he was a threat down the right flank the entire evening. That has prompted plenty of Celtic fans to implore Lennon to use him more often in the coming weeks.

Celtic endured a frustrating time at Kilmarnock in their most recent league game. And James Forrest was one of those who was criticised by the fans for failing to make an impact.

And following Tuesday’s game, some have suggested that Elhamed should keep his place at right-back, allowing Jeremie Frimpong to push further forward.

Here is what some of the Celtic fans were saying about Elhamed following the 6-0 win…
