Celtic fans react on Twitter as Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert linked with Parkhead

Celtic are reportedly considering an approach to bring Paul Lambert to Parkhead if they eventually decide to sack current manager Neil Lennon after a dismal run of form – and Celtic supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reports.

Lennon is under enormous pressure and the Scottish champions have been forced to release a second statement, defending Lennon following Sunday’s poor 1-1 draw with St. Johnstone. Celtic have now just won two of their last 12 games.

Their first defeat in cup competitions in four years has seen them knocked out of the Betfred Cup by Ross County, while they have already been knocked out of the Europa League after just four group games. They are also 13 points behind Rangers.

Football site 90Min claim that while Lennon is currently being backed, sources have informed the site that the club could consider bringing Lambert back to Parkhead – after clocking up 273 appearances as a player during his time with the Hoops.

An experienced manager, 51-year-old Lambert has managed Norwich City, Stoke City and Aston Villa in the Premier League – and has taken Ipswich Town to third in League One with promotion expected at Portman Road this season.

Celtic supporters reacted on Twitter to reports that they could replace Lennon with Lambert – but Hoops supporters are not for the idea, with many claiming that it would be a sideways move between Lennon and Lambert.
