Victor Wanyama has completed a move to MLS side Montreal Impact from Tottenham Hotspur after failing to find a new club in the January window – and Celtic supporters have reacted to the move on Twitter.

Wanyama, 28, has ended his four-year spell at Spurs by joining Arsenal icon Thierry Henry in Canada as Montreal look to win their first ever MLS title this season. He joins Luis Binks, who has also moved from Spurs to Montreal.

The Kenya captain first came onto the scene when Celtic spent Β£900,000 (Guardian) to sign him from Belgian side Beerschot. He spent two years at Celtic before making a big-money move to Southampton in the Premier League.

During his 91 appearances for the Hoops, Wanyama helped begin the eight consecutive row of Scottish Premiership titles – winning the first two. He also helped Celtic, under Neil Lennon, win the Scottish Cup.

The Daily Record claimed on January deadline day that Celtic were β€˜keen’ and that Lennon is a β€˜huge admirer of the player’. But a return to Parkhead was not engineered, and instead, Wanyama has moved to Canada on a three-year deal.

Celtic supporters reacted on Twitter as Wanyama completed a move from the Premier League to the MLS where he will link up with ex-Barcelona star Bojan – and some wished he had chosen a return to Celtic.
