Celtic fans react as Tottenham reportedly change asking price to £10m
Celtic will have to reportedly pay a club-record £10million if they want to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham – and Celtic fans have reacted.
Carter-Vickers, 23, has been excellent since joining Celtic on loan from Tottenham in the summer. He has since played 17 times for the Hoops.
In that time, the eight-time USA international has clocked up seven clean sheets for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking side. He has also scored twice.
Moments before joining Celtic on loan, Carter-Vickers signed a contract extension at Spurs. It means Spurs can charge what they like for him.
It is now believed that he will cost £10million. The Record say Spurs have increased their asking price from £6million, to the club-record fee.
Somewhat of a surprise, given Carter-Vickers is far down the pecking order at Tottenham. It remains to be seen what Celtic think of the price tag.
What are Celtic fans saying about Carter-Vickers and his £10m tag?
Carter-Vickers is a good defender and has been excellent for Celtic. He is probably the first defender on the team sheet, with Chris Jullien injured.
Certainly, he gets in above Stephen Welsh and Carl Starfelt. Celtic’s current transfer record is £9million, though, so is he really a club-record signing?
Is he really worth paying eight figures for the first time? £3million more than Jota? Many have a right to feel aggrieved at Tottenham’s asking price.
Some Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the reports of a £10million fee to sign Carter-Vickers. Many want him, but not at that price.
