Celtic took a large step towards the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night with a huge 5-0 win over Nomme Kalju in the second qualifying round – but Hoops fans were unimpressed by a new signing.
Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo started on the left side of defence with Kieran Tierney still missing, making his third appearance for the Hoops since completing his £3million (Herald) move from Rapid Vienna earlier this summer.
Kristoffer Ajer headed home from six yards out to give Celtic the lead after 36 minutes, before Ryan Christie sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty. The best goal of the night came a minute later.

Given a surprise start after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, an emotional Leigh Griffiths curled in an excellent free kick from 25 yards out to make it 3-0 at the break. Christie scored his second and Celtic’s fourth in the second 45.
Callum McGregor then get in on the act with a superb low strike, completing a 5-0 rout but that did not stop fans from criticising Bolingoli-Mbombo. The Belgian lasted just 37 minutes, after suffering an injury.
But it was a painful 37 minutes for Celtic fans, with the new signing trying too hard and getting caught like a rabbit in the headlights. Much more will be needed, as Hoops fans took to Twitter to criticise the new recruit.
