Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Kilmarnock right-back Stephen O’Donnell this summer with Neil Lennon now remaining in the role, and the defender admitted it is flattering – to which Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Scottish Sun claimed last month that if Lennon was given the full-time job as manager of the Scottish champions, then O’Donnell would be a target with Killie willing to sell.
O’Donnell, 27, is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Rugby Park. It is believed the Scotland international could be sold by Killie in order to bring in some cash for defender.
Asked about Celtic’s reported interest, O’Donnell responded by dismissing the link though he did admit he was flattered with a move to Parkhead this summer.
“I’m going everywhere apparently,” O’Donnell said. “It’s flattering to be linked with these clubs, but I’d love to know the sources sometimes.”
Celtic are certainly in need of a right-back, with Mikael Lustig’s future at the club still in doubt. Even if Lustig remains, Lennon may be tempted to bring in another right-sided defender as competition.
Hoops fans have reacted on Twitter after hearing of O’Donnell’s comments on the reported interest in Celtic, and many believe he is the answer to their right-back woes this summer.
In January folk were drooling over Castagne and Toljan, this guy would be a far better signing, miles better.https://t.co/QL0w2ULkKE

I wouldn't say he's better than Castagne. I'd definitely sign him though.

Ok. He’s not better than Castagne. But I’ve been saying since the beginning of the season we should sign him.
