Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has signed a new long-term deal at Parkhead.
Bain has committed his future to Celtic, putting pen to paper on a four-year extension until summer 2023. The club’s official website confirmed this news one day after James Forrest signed a new contract.
Celtic have given Bain a new long-term deal with doubt surrounding the futures of the other two goalkeepers. Craig Gordon is approaching the end of his career and Fraser Forster is only on loan.
The Bhoys would ideally like to re-sign Forster on a permanent deal. The popular Englishman took over from Bain as Celtic’s first-choice stopper after joining on loan from Southampton. But Bain is waiting in the wings in case Forster returns to the Saints.
Bain has played 45 times for Celtic since his move from Dundee – initially on loan. The 27-year-old will now be aiming to win his number one spot back. At the very least, he’ll be a strong back-up option to Forster for the long-term future.
This announcement prompted mixed reaction from Celtic fans. Here are some tweets…
Why? Even if we don’t keep Forster after his loan. Craig Gordon is better then bain

Good news but not signing Forster on a permanent deal next summer would be a massive mistake.

Good news. Hope big Fraser stays too and wish Gordon all the best.
