Celtic took on French side Lyon in a pre-season friendly clash this evening, with some pressure on to better Old Firm rivals Rangers result against the Ligue 1 side.

Unfortunately, they came up short, as Lyon claimed a 2-1 win.

It was, of course, only a pre-season match, and Celtic manager Neil Lennon brought in plenty of fringe players to try and get some match fitness before the start of next season.

So rather than focus on the negatives, plenty of Celtic fans took the opportunity to poke some fun at their Glasgow rivals after former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele scored the opening goal.

The Frenchman, who was a goal sensation during his time at Parkhead, opened the scoring for Lyon, with Memphis Depay grabbing their other goal.

Celtic fans were not surprised by Dembele hitting the back of the net, given the amount of times he did the same in green-and-white hoops.

But it did make plenty of Celtic fans gleeful at the fact Dembele has now scored more goals against the club than Rangers’ own strike sensation Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian is yet to register against Celtic in an Old Firm derby, a stick Celtic fans have often beaten their rival fans with on numerous occasions.

So the fact Dembele has now bettered that record, and did so after just four minutes, was a reason for some Celtic fans to be cheerful.
