RedBull Salzburg manager Marco Rose has been confirmed as Borussia Monchengladbach’s new manager for the 2019-20 campaign – and Celtic fans have reacted with utter frustration.
There has been plenty of talk over the 42-year-old’s future after an excellent stint as manager of Salzburg. He pushed Salzburg into last 16 of the Europa League, only to finally lose to Napoli 4-3 on aggregate.
He watched on as his side beat Celtic twice in the group stages. He has also masterminded his side’s rise to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga, with Salzburg sitting nine points clear.
The double is on, with Salzburg beating Grazer AK 6-0 in the Austrian Cup semi-final. They take on Rapid Wien on May 1. It is understandable to see why Rose’s names has been touted for the Celtic job.
But Gladbach confirmed on Wednesday that Rose would be taking charge of the Bundesliga outfit from the summer onwards, with his Salzburg contract lasting until only the summer of 2020.
The permanent job at Parkhead is yet to be decided. Neil Lennon remains unbeaten, but just nine goals in seven games and draws against Livingston and Aberdeen have put doubt in the minds of Celtic fans.
Celtic fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Rose would not be moving to Glasgow, but instead to Germany with Gladbach. The majority of supporters are frustrated, and angry with their club’s hesitancy.
