Celtic fans react as Liam Henderson posts on Twitter, following Empoli move

Liam Henderson has posted on Twitter after the ex-Celtic star’s spell in Italy has taken a twist – with the Hellas Verona star opting to drop back down to Serie B with Empoli on loan. Celtic fans have responded to his Tweet.

Henderson, 23, has already become well travelled in his short career. Coming through the academy at Celtic, he clocked up 37 outings for the Scottish champions – but was also loaned out twice before trying his luck in Italy.

Successful spells at Norwegian side Rosenborg – four goals in 13 games and the league title, and Hibernian – 16 assists in 48 games, failed to give Henderson a proper chance at Celtic. He moved to Bari in January 2018. He then moved to Verona.

The Scottish star helped World Cup winner Fabio Grosso push Verona back into Serie A, but he managed just four league appearances since the return to the top flight. A loan to Serie B outfit Empoli has followed, and Henderson posted on Twitter.

Henderson made his debut on Friday night against Chievo Verona, who were relegated from Serie A last season. He will now be tasked with adding creativity into a side that sit just three points above the relegation zone.

Celtic fans have reacted to Henderson’s Tweet with the majority wishing him luck as he embarks on a new chapter in his career. Some supporters, though, have urged him to return to Scotland.
