Celtic fans react as Jonny Hayes wins the man of the match award

Celtic winger Jonny Hayes won the sponsor’s man of the match award in Sunday’s win over Motherwell.

Dafabet named Hayes as the best player on the park in Celtic’s 2-0 win at the weekend. The three points helped keep Celtic at the top of the league – level on points with bitter rivals Rangers.

Neil Lennon sprung a surprise when he picked Hayes to start against Lazio in the week. And after playing the full 90 minutes on Thursday, some fans did not expect to see him in the starting line-up again.

Greg Taylor joined in the summer from Kilmarnock as a replacement for Kieran Tierney. But the Scotland international was snubbed yet again. Hayes started ahead of Taylor, who has really struggled for game time since his switch to Parkhead.

Hayes is versatile so he can operate in midfield or at left-back. Although he is a fringe player at Celtic, he always works hard and gives his all. This paid off when he scored in the Old Firm derby earlier this season.
