Jonjoe Kenny impressed during his debut as Celtic earned an excellent 4-0 away win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night – and Hoops supporters have applauded the Everton loanee for his efforts on the right flank.
Kenny, 23, was a deadline-day signing from Premier League side Everton as the Hoops moved quickly to replace the £11.5million departure of Jeremie Frimpong – who left Parkhead to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
Kenny has managed just 77 minutes of Premier League action for Everton this season – even with Carlo Ancelotti lacking in a right-back when Seamus Coleman was injured. Alex Iwobi and Ben Godfrey have been used on the right.
Celtic looked like the Celtic of old, as Scott Brown opened the scoring with a header . Albian Ajeti controversially won a penalty that Odsonne Edouard scored, before the Frenchman doubled his tally. Ajeti got a late fourth.
Kenny looked dangerous on the right, getting forward on numerous occasions and looking to deliver a cross – but also remaining defensively solid. The Hoops closed the gap on Rangers, but the Gers play on Wednesday.
Celtic supporters reacted on Twitter to Everton loanee Kenny’s debut, and many were impressed with Kenny’s first showing for the Bhoys. One fan even compared him to Andreas Hinkel, while another compared him to Frimpong.
