John Hartson was full of praise for Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen on Sunday as Wales earned an excellent 1-0 win over Slovakia – and many Celtic fans have responded by suggesting he would be good for the Hoops.
Allen, 29, is currently with Stoke City in the English Championship after failing to prevent the Staffordshire-based club from suffering relegation last season. He remains first choice, having played every single league game.
Wales earned an excellent 1-0 win over Slovakia to get their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign off to a perfect start. Swansea City winger Daniel James smashed home an effort from 20 yards in the fifth minute.
Hartson was full of praise for Allen after the match on Twitter, describing his performance as “outstanding” and claiming the ex-Liverpool man is “Premier League standard”.
Allen saw out the entire 90 minutes which saw Wales hold onto an excellent three points, mainly thanks to a number of saves from goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey. Harry Wilson also came close to finding the back of the net.
Celtic fans reacted to Hartson’s Tweet by urging their club to consider a move for the 48-time Wales international. The Telegraph claimed last summer that Allen was allowed to leave Stoke, but only for a whopping £25million.
