Celtic have reportedly been ‘alerted’ to the possibility that Patrick Roberts could see his loan spell at English Championship side Middlesbrough cut short in the January transfer window – and Hoops fans have implored their club to net the English ace.
Roberts, 23, has endured a difficult period in his young career since leaving Celtic at the end of the 2017-18 season. Disappointing loan spells at Girona, Norwich City and then Middlesbrough have left Roberts at a standstill in his career.
Now expected to return to Manchester City in the January window, Roberts will be looking to leave Pep Guardiola’s side on a temporary basis again. He has 18 months left on his contract, six years on from joining Celtic for £11million (ESPN) in 2015.

Neil Lennon’s side lack width. An injury to James Forrest has proved detrimental, while Mikey Johnston has only just returned from a long-term problem himself. It has left Celtic with just Mo Elyounoussi as a recognised first-team winger.
The Record suggest that Celtic have been ‘alerted’ to the possibility that Roberts could be available in the upcoming window. It could see Roberts return to Parkhead, after two and half years with the Hoops previously, in which he played 78 times.
Celtic supporters reacted to the reported news that Roberts could become a target for Lennon’s side over the course of the next few weeks as Celtic look to get their pursuit of 10 in a row back on course. Many have urged their club to land the winger.
