Celtic fans react as Graham Potter linked with manager role

The latest name to be linked with the permanent role as Celtic manager is Swansea City manager Graham Potter, with Neil Lennon still only in interim charge of the Hoops – and Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter.

Lennon, 47, watched on as his Celtic side produced their best result since he took over. Celtic cruised to a 3-0 win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final, thanks to goals from James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic.

It saw Lennon make it eight matches unbeaten since taking over. He has now earned six wins and two draws. But fans have criticised the interim manager for Celtic’s lack of attacking excitement.

Failing to beat Livingston and Aberdeen at home and a narrow 1-0 win over Dundee has piled the pressure on Lennon. But Sunday’s 3-0 win will have eased Lennon’s concerns.

Nevertheless, The Sun have claimed that Potter is a target for the Hoops should they look elsewhere than Lennon. The English boss has impressed since taking over at Swansea last summer.

The Welsh side were relegated from the Premier League and an unsteady board has affected results on the pitch. Potter has been entrusted to make do with what he has got.

A track record for faith in youth and a decent record in Europe after taking Swedish minnows Ostersunds to the Europa League, Potter has arisen as a candidate.

But many Celtic fans are against the idea of Potter moving to Parkhead, because his assistant at Swansea is Billy Reid. The former Hamilton manager is said to be a big Rangers fan. Others simply do not want him.
