Celtic could reportedly be about to sign RedBull Salzburg left-back Gideon Mensah as the player weighs up a contract offer from the Scottish champions – and Hoops fans have reacted on Twitter to the potential new signing.
Ghana Soccer Net claimed earlier this week that 21-year-old left-back Mensah is considering a move to Celtic, or to Belgian side Zulte Waregem on loan after strangely being linked with a move to Barcelona – following a friendly against the Spaniards.
Mensah, who has played for Ghana’s Under-23 side, is yet to make a senior appearance for Salzburg – who have played against Celtic in Europe on multiple occasions over the past few seasons. Instead, he has been out on loan – last at Sturm Graz.
Celtic need a left-sided defender after Kieran Tierney left the club, with Neil Lennon having his doubts over new £3million signign Boli Bolingoli. It saw Lennon opt against playing him in the Champions League defeat to CFR Cluj.

The Hoops have been linked with a move for Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor, but have been quoted as much as £3million for the Scotland international. Sunderland are also said to be keen on the 21-year-old ace.
Now, it appears Mensah could be the man to fill the void at Celtic, but is said to be weighing up his options as he chooses to go on loan to either Celtic or Zulte Waregem. Celtic fans, though, are not particularly impressed.
Many Celtic fans reacted on Twitter sarcastically, with the move being yet another loan instead of the club spending some cash. Others criticised the fact that Mensah is one for the future, rather than a player that can add quality straight away.
