Celtic are reportedly ‘very close’ to completing a move to sign free agent midfielder Andrea Bertolacci after his release by AC Milan this summer – and Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter.

The 28-year-old midfielder is a free agent after failing to win a new deal at Milan, managing just four appearances for Gennaro Gattuso’s side during 2018-19. All four came in the Europa League.

Though somewhat dubious, Italian outlet Calcio Buzz have claimed that Bertolacci is ‘very close’ to moving to Scotland and signing a two-year deal with Celtic – just four years on from his £18m (La Repubblica) move to Milan.

Bertolacci managed 30 matches in his first season at Milan but it has since deteriorated since his big-money move. Just 20 came in 2016-17, before being loaned to Genoa during 17-18. Now, he is looking for a new home.

Celtic are likely to be after a central midfielder with Olivier Ntcham’s future very much in doubt. The club have also failed to sign David Turnbull, and could do with a replacement for Scott Brown who is getting older.

Celtic fans reacted to the reported news that their club could be about to confirm the capture of five-time Italy international Bertolacci, and many are excited at the prospect of the midfielder completing a move to Celtic.
