Celtic are reportedly set to table an offer of £5.5million to sign Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson after an excellent campaign in Germany’s top tier – but Hoops fans are not so keen on the big Swede.
Andersson, 29, starred for Union. Expected to be fighting in a relegation scrap and eventually lose that battle, Union defied the odds to sit in mid-table mediocrity – with a more than convincing 11th-placed finish.
Nine-time Sweden international Andersson was crucial to that. He finished at the top of the Bundesliga goalscoring charts for Union with 12 goals in 33 Bundesliga outings, with his link-up play just as important as his goals.
German magazine Kicker claim that Andersson is set to be the subject of a £5.5million bid – his release clause – from Celtic, who could be looking to sign a striker this summer – despite boasting four first-team options at the moment.

Odsonne Edouard looks set to remain so far, while Patryk Klimala has enjoyed an excellent pre-season. Leigh Griffiths has been criticised but is still involved, but Vakoun Bayo looks unlikely to make an impact.
Andersson could be brought in, then. But Kicker claim an unnamed French side are also interested, while Andersson is dreaming of a move to the Premier League – with Leeds, Newcastle and West Brom all keen.
Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are about to table an offer for Andersson – but many believe he is too old for Celtic to be spending such a figure on his services.
Some, meanwhile, are worried Edouard could be sold if Andersson is bought.
