Celtic have reportedly joined the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur left-footer Ryan Sessegnon on loan before the October 5 deadline but face competition from Premier League clubs – and Hoops fans have responded on Twitter.
Tottenham have been very busy in the transfer market this summer, most recently bringing in Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid – both signings of which have pushed the England Under-21 international ace further down the pecking order.
Since his £25million move to Spurs from London rivals Fulham, Sessegnon has managed just 12 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham. Injury has played its part, but the arrival of Jose Mourinho pushed Sessegnon out of the picture.
Even with Tottenham’s hectic schedule which sees them play their seventh match of the season on Thursday against Maccabi Heifa, Sessegnon has not been afforded a single outing this season. He remains out of the reckoning.
The Scottish Daily Mail have claimed in Wednesday’s paper edition (back page, continued on page 81) that Celtic have joined five other sides in the race for Sessegnon – with Leeds, Brighton, Southampton, Ajax and Hertha Berlin also keen.
Celtic supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Sessegnon has emerged as a possible signing in the coming days on loan – and many want the winger , who has the same agent as Olivier Ntcham (TransferMarkt), signed.
