Celtic fans react as club reportedly could sign a player Ange Postecoglou previously managed
Celtic are reportedly keen on luring Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy to Parkhead this summer, with the player potentially keen on joining. Indeed, Ange Postecoglou is beginning to start his summer overhaul – and Mooy could be a part of that. Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports.
Mooy, 30, is currently playing in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Port – formerly known as Shanghai SIPG. He forms a very impressive midfield alongside ex-Chelsea man Oscar, behind Austrian ace Marko Arnautovic. But he could be tempted with an exit this summer.
Australian outlet The World Game say so, anyway. They claim that lockdown rules in China means Mooy can only leave his hotel room to train and play matches. He has not seen his wife – who is Scottish – for a long time. That situation might allow him to depart in the coming months.
What have Celtic fans said about Mooy?
Chinese Super League clubs are aware of the situation of their players and are willing to accept sales. It is claimed that Celtic could look to sign Mooy this summer, having worked under Ange Postecoglou during the latter’s reign as Socceroos boss between 2013 and 2017.
Celtic fans reacted to the reports that their club could sign Mooy – who has clocked up 96 appearances in the Premier League. A player that Brighton sold to Shanghai Port for £7.5million, Mooy currently earns £98,000 a week (ABC). Many believe he would be a brilliant signing.
