Celtic are reportedly interested in luring FC Copenhagen defender Peter Ankersen to Parkhead this summer in a bid to finally solve their right-back problem area – and Celtic supporters have reacted on Twitter.

The Scottish Sun have claimed Celtic could move for the 28-year-old this summer after Mikael Lustig confirmed his Celtic exit earlier this week, joining Belgian side KAA Gent.

The Hoops begin their season on July 7 in the Champions League qualifiers and are in desperate need of signing a right-back before that clash. Jeremy Toljan has returned to Borussia Dortmund, leaving just Anthony Ralston.

Ankersen has 25 caps for Denmark but is expected to leave Copenhagen this summer, after 175 appearances after winning three Danish league title and another three Danish cups.

The right-back has shone in a somewhat similar league to the Scottish Premiership, with Copenhagen in a similar position to the Hoops when it comes to expectations surrounding the league title.

Ankersen is also more than accomplished at European level, clocking up a career total of 61 appearances in both the Europa League and the Champions League. From the right side of the defence, he has scored four goals and created 12 more.

Celtic fans reacted on Twitter to the news their club are interested in Ankersen, with many urging the Hoops to sign the right-sided defender who helped win the 2018-19 Danish Superliga.
