Chris Sutton has told the Daily Record that he believes Celtic should try to sign Rangers loanee Ryan Kent after the Liverpool winger scored against the Hoops on Sunday – and Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter.
Kent, 22, equalised for the Gers after Odsonne Edouard had opened the scoring for Celtic. He turned Dedryck Boyata inside out before supplying a tidy finish past goalkeeper Scott Bain.
The former Bristol City, Barnsley and Freiburg loanee was Rangers’ best player throughout and earned the praise of Sutton by being named in his Scottish Premiership team of the week.
Kent should have had an assist to his name too, only for his pull back to be blazed over the bar by Ryan Jack. The score was still 1-1, and would have put the Gers ahead. Celtic won through a late winner from James Forrest.
The Liverpool Echo claim Jurgen Klopp’s side want £12million for Kent’s signature, which would make the winger Celtic’s club-record transfer. That currently stands at Odsonne Edouard’s £9million move last summer.
Celtic fans have reacted to Sutton suggesting that Celtic should move for Kent, and many disagree – accusing Sutton of an April Fools’ joke, while some reckon Kent is hardly an improvement on what Celtic already have.
