Cameron Harper rounded off an excellent 4-0 win for Celtic’s reserve side on Tuesday afternoon in the Glasgow Cup with a glorious fourth goal against Partick Thistle – and many have urged Neil Lennon to promote him into the senior side.
Harper, 19, is yet to make his debut for Celtic’s first team but has been a regular in the club’s second string of late – after joining the club from American minnows Pateadores in the summer of 2018. The winger was in excellent form on Tuesday.
He continued to send a reminder to Lennon that he could perhaps deserve a chance in the first team with an excellent brace against Partick – despite playing away from home, as the Hoops won 4-0. Luca Connell gave Celtic’s Colts the lead.
A second came from Harper has controlled a long ball and finished coolly from 10 yards out. A third from Owen Moffat was followed by the goal of the day from Harper, who cut inside and lashed a curling effort into the back of the net.

If a Celtic youngster looking to break into the first team could pick his position, he would probably be a winger. That is because the Hoops hardly have a surplus of options on the flanks – with James Forrest and Mikey Johnston currently injured.
It has seen Lennon use the likes of Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and Mo Elyounoussi on the flanks of late – or play a a three-man defence that incorporated wing-backs. But USA Under-20 star Harper could be pushing Lennon to give him a chance.
Celtic fans reacted to his second goal on Twitter after it was uploaded, and many are excited about his potential. One fan reckons he has a bit of “Aiden [McGeady] about him”.
