Normal service is resumed in Scotland. Hearts were dealt a 5-0 thrashing in the Scottish
Premiership yesterday by Celtic. After a slow start to the campaign, it seemed Hearts might take advantage. However, Celtic remain the team to beat. This thumping win puts Brendan Rodgers’ side one point behind the Edinburgh club, with a game in hand.
There were some fine displays from the Celtic team. Filip Benkovic was impressive again, Ryan Christie continues to improve whilst Odsonne Edouard may be Scotland’s top striker.
But Callum McGregor was by far the best player on the pitch.
The 25-year-old has been asked to play in a deeper role recently, due to the absence of skipper Scott Brown.
He has taken to it with aplomb. His composure and vision has seen Celtic become a far more creative threat, hence their current run of three wins in a row, 13 goals scored, none conceded.
McGregor brings a creative outlet perhaps lacking in the heart of midfield when the more industrious Brown plays and plenty of Celtic fans are thoroughly enjoying having him prove his positional dexterity.
When people moaned that we didn’t sign McGinn….did you not realise we already had McGregor? The boy is class. He was actually MOTM today #Celtic

Thought Callum McGregor was MOTM by a mile the day

5-0 going on 10. Easy win for the hoops v the dirty jambos. McGregor MOTM for me. Cruised it. Ran the show. No failures tho. All looked terrific. Levein never changed tactics from last week. Boring boring Hearts. 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Think McGregor is having his best performances in a Celtic jersey the past few weeks. He’s more direct and his forward passing is spot on

Calum McGregor is the best footballer in Scotland.

Callum McGregor looks brilliant in that deeper role. No doubt we need Scott Brown’s qualities in a lot of games but we are playing extremely well without him.
Shoutout to @kenny_campbell for calling it at McDiarmid Park last month before it became the hot topic!

Are we seeing Scott Brown’s replacement in Callum McGregor? Celtic looking good without the skipper
