Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers are reportedly set to complete the signing of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard for a knockdown price of just £15million ahead of the summer window – and Celtic fans have responded on Twitter.
Edouard, 23, has been in excellent form of late – but has struggled to recapture the form he showed last season. This season, he has 20 goals and four assists in 32 games, but last season he managed 47 goals involvements in 47 games, scoring 28.
But with 12 months remaining on his Celtic contract, Edouard is expected to be sold in the summer. The Mail claim Leicester and Rodgers are to win the race for the France Under-21 star – who has 15 goals in 10 caps at that level.
The Foxes are set to win that race despite having competition in the race to sign the ex-Paris Saint Germain striker. Arsenal and Roma are said to have ‘courted’ the striker, with a fee of £15million said to be enough.
The Hoops do have cover for Edouard, but Leigh Griffiths is struggling to maintain his fitness – and doubts remain over the impact of recent signings Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala. A replacement will be needed.
The report states that Celtic will be forced to pay 40% of the profit to PSG, which will be a fee of £2.4million having bought Edouard for £9million. Celtic fans, though, still think it is a good deal to get £15million for Edouard.
Makes perfect sense. If as reported PSG are due 40% of any profit they'd be due £2.4m of the £15m. We put similar clause in, then when he moves in 2 years for £60m+ we rake it in.

If true, quite smart. 40% of £6m is £2.4 to PSG. Put a 20% sell on and he goes for £50m = £7m.

He has ons year left. We leave it till January and we really will be struggling for a fee.

After this season we should take the money and run.

There better be a 50% sell on clause on this 🍀😂 https://t.co/DiyvQjkb0a

We will be very lucky to get 15 for a player in his last year of his contract and wanting to move on! He’s worth far more than that but they way football is just now, clubs just don’t have the money they did 2 years ago! Sad to see him go, for me 2nd to Larson on his day 🍀

We will be lucky to get 15m for him, he will have a year on his ticket come the summer, the fact we held onto him past January was a shocking move financially.

15 million is better than nothing. He doesn’t want to be at the club anymore and we need players 100 percent commited next season.
