Celtic conceded a late equaliser at Parkhead on Monday evening as Kevin Nisbet fired home to cancel out a David Turnbull free-kick – and supporters have praised defender Stephen Welsh for his performance, despite the draw.
Following a positive test returned by Christopher Jullien, Celtic were forced to field a much-changed side given that 14 were forced to self-isolate. Neil Lennon and assistant manager John Kennedy too, with Gavin Strachan in charge.
Rookies Welsh, Conor Hazard and Cameron Palmer all started while Mikey Johnstone lined-up up front. Karamoko Dembele, Ewan Henderson and Armstrong Okoflex all came off the bench as the Hoops managed to win 1-0.

A late free-kick conceded by Stephen McGinn saw the in-form David Turnbull curl a stunning effort into the top corner – only for Nisbet to score in injury time, cancelling out Celtic’s only goal. The match ended 1-1.
Welsh was solid throughout. The 20-year-old was handed just his sixth Celtic appearance of his career alongside the struggling Shane Duffy but impressed during the clash – despite being criticised following a poor Old Firm result.
Although Celtic failed to hold onto the win – a result which sees Rangers only strengthen their lead – many praised young defender Welsh for his efforts. One fan said he had been “outstanding”.
