Celtic managed a narrow victory against Latvian champions Riga FC on Thursday evening – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out their youngster Jeremie Frimpong as a real standout player from the European fixture.
The Bhoys left it extremely late to beat Riga 1-0 in the Europa League third round qualifier, as Mohamed Elyounoussi finally broke down a stubborn defence with his 90th minute goal.
Despite struggling in the final third for most of the contest, Elyounoussi scored a neat first-time finish inside the box to keep the club’s European campaign alive.
The Scottish giants are hunting down a famous 10th consecutive league title this year on a domestic front, but it’s so important they go deep into a European competition too and it was nervous in the closing stages against Riga.
A selection of Celtic supporters on social media were disappointed by the overall performance from the side, but picked out Frimpong as a huge positive.
The 19-year-old full-back ended the action in the 34th minute following an injury to James Forrest and was heavily involved.
He slotted into a right wing-back role and was arguably the team’s greatest attacking threat, as he used his pace and dribbling to drive into the opposition’s half
Here are some Celtic fans discussing teenager Frimpong:
Frimpong has came on and changed this game. How much more does he need to do to start?

That first half has me worried. Got to get the ball to Frimpong. He looks lively down the right. 🍀
