Celtic fans praise Christopher Jullien for Europa League performance

Celtic recorded a draw away to Rennes on Wednesday evening – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were blown away by the performance of defender Christopher Jullien.

Neil Lennon’s team kicked off their Europa League group stage campaign with a decent 1-1 draw against French opposition Rennes.

The Bhoys went behind through M’Baye Niang’s first-half penalty, after defender Kristoffer Ajer conceded a spot-kick.

But the Scottish champions responded with their own penalty, as Ryan Christie stayed calm from 12 yards to earn his side a well deserved point.

There was late drama as substitute Vakoun Bayo was sent off for a second booking in a full-blooded match.

A selection of Celtic supporters on social media picked out Jullien for his dominant display at the back in France.

The no-nonsense centre-back was a beast in the air and stood firm defensively against a Rennes team that have impressed in Ligue 1 so far this campaign.

Jullien only moved to Parkhead in the summer for £7million (BBC) and as it stands he’s looking a total bargain for them.

The 26-year-old is becoming a consistent figure in the backline and it looks like he will be a key player in the club’s European campaign.

Here are some Celtic fans commenting on Jullien:
