Celtic fans praise Callum McGregor performance against Hibernian

Celtic beat Hibernian 5-2 on Saturday in the Scottish League cup semi-final – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were heavily impressed by the display of midfielder Callum McGregor.

Neil Lennon’s team recorded a comfortable victory at Hampden Park, as they really flexed their muscles in front of goal and were devastating going forward.

The Bhoys raced into a two-goal lead early on and Mohamed Elyounoussi opened the scoring to continue his fine individual form.

McGregor netted the second with a close-range finish, before Hibs cut the deficit through Melker Hallberg.

Elyounoussi added another to his personal tally to restore a two-goal cushion just before half-time and captain Scott Brown put the contest to bed with the first of his two goals, while Florian Kamberi also notched for Hibs in the high-scoring affair.

A selection of Celtic supporters on social media felt that midfielder McGregor was excellent at the weekend and really stood out.

Aside from just his first-half goal, the 26-year-old helped dominate possession in the centre of the park and proved too hot for Hibs to handle.

He brings a great energy in the central midfield area and has become a key player under Lennon.

Here are some Celtic fans waxing lyrical about McGregor:
