Celtic fans pile into Burke after miss in closing stages of defeat against Rangers

Celtic lost 2-0 to Rangers yesterday and their supporters were fuming when Oliver Burke blew a chance to pull a goal back late on.

Celtic have wrapped up the Scottish Premiership title but did not play like champions at Ibrox yesterday as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against their historic rivals Rangers.

The passion that the occasion demanded was sorely lacking from Celtic and Rangers continued their red-hot end of season form to lay down a marker of their intent for next season.

A cynic may say that Rangers struggled when the pressure of the chase for trophies was at its most intense but their good end to the campaign will give Steven Gerrard confidence that his side can stake a title challenge next term.

In contrast, Celtic are no nearer knowing who their manager will be next season, ahead of a summer where their recruitment has to be spot on if they are to make strides in Europe and keep Rangers at arm’s length domestically.

And although Celtic can have no complaints about the scoreline yesterday, they had a chance to bring a goal back on 84 minutes, through Oliver Burke, but he fluffed his lines.

The supporters on Twitter lambasted the man West Brom signed for a reported £15m (BBC) back in 2017 before loaning him to Parkhead in January, as well as fuming that the miss was their first shot on target of the whole game.
