Celtic fans perplexed by Marian Shved omission against Hearts

Marian Shved excelled in Ukraine last season.

Marian Shved was an unused substitute once again as Celtic beat Hearts. Many Celtic fans believe Shved should have been given a run-out, especially after the club went 3-0 up after 60 minutes.

Neil Lennon decided to use rarely-seen striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo and he repaid the faith with a brace. There is a feeling that Shved could make a similar impact – if only he was given a chance.

The Ukraine U21 winger – who already has one senior cap – signed for Celtic last January. He returned to Karpaty Lviv on loan until this summer, scoring 23 goals in 55 games from the wing for the Ukrainian top-flight club.

Shved is a left-footed winger with an eye for goal. He likes operating on the right flank and cutting inside so fans were understandably excited that he would be part of the squad this year. But things have not gone smoothly just yet.

The 22-year-old has been named in five matchday squads but has only played in one of those games. That was against Nomme Kalju in the Champions League when he came on for 20 minutes and scored.

Here are some tweets after Lennon decided to leave Shved out once again.
