Celtic fans heap praise on Bayer Leverkusen star that sparkled under the Parkhead lights on Thursday
Celtic were left frustrated on Thursday night after a decent performance ended up with a 4-0 loss – and fans are in awe of Lukas Hradecky.
The Hoops could easily have scored four or five goals. But they were far from fruitful in front of goal, despite the return of Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Japan international at one point rounded 70-time Finland international Hradecky. Only for Jonathan Tah to catch up with Kyogo and tackle him.
Kyogo also missed a glorious chance in the second half, when the ball was just being asked to prod home. Tom Rogic and Liel Abada had chances, too.
Jota saw a couple of efforts incredibly saved by th ex-Frankfurt goalkeeper, too. But ultimately, defensive mistakes contributed to a heavy scoreline.
Leverkusen ran out 4-0 winners. It leaves Celtic with no points after losing to Real Betis in the first round of Europa League matches this month.
Celtic fans have their say on Leverkusen stopper Hradecky…
Hradecky, 31, has the reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in German football – shining for Leverkusen since joining the club in 2018.
He replaced Bernd Leno, when the Germany international moved to Arsenal. Since the move, he has clocked up a huge 136 appearances.
In that time, he has conceded 169 times and kept 40 clean sheets – not bad stats given Leverkusen have played with a very open style.
Unfortunately for Celtic, they found Hradecky in top form on Thursday and many Hoops fans held their hands up – applauding him on Twitter.
