Celtic fans hail substitute Weah after his goal sealed late win over St Johnstone

Celtic had to be patient in their match against St Johnstone yesterday, as it was beginning to look like they wouldn’t get that all-important breakthrough as the match approached the last ten minutes.

But James Forrest broke the game open with a crucial strike, finally ending the hosts’ resistance and putting Celtic six points clear at the top of the table, with Rangers set to travel to third-placed Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

After that, it fell to substitute Timothy Weah to make the game safe with just one minute remaining, further endearing himself to his new fans after his January loan move from Paris Saint-Germain.

The success of Odsonne Edouard at Parkhead, having also come from the French champions, gives Weah a clear pathway to follow and many fans already want Brendan Rodgers to start working on a permanent deal for the striker.

Crucial contributions such as yesterday’s are the best way for Weah to enhance his already growing reputation. The onus was on Rodgers last month to bring game-changers in to rejuvenate an attack that was becoming slightly stretched, and the early impact of Weah suggests he did exactly that.

The supporters already love him and we’ve taken a look at some of the best reaction in the wake of yet another crucial win…
