Celtic fans hail Ryan Christie after St Johnstone victory

Ryan Christie was a star man in the opening day demolition of St Johnstone on Saturday – and some Celtic fans hailed him for his brilliant individual performance.

The attacking midfielder netted a hat-trick during a 7-0 thumping at home to St Johnstone in the first league game of the season.

Neil Lennon’s side began the defence of their league crown in perfect style and left-footed sensation Christie was on top form.

Mikey Johnstone, Olivier Ntcham, Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths were also on the scoresheet for the Scottish giants.

A selection of Celtic supporters singled out Christie for his display and predict he will be pivotal this season.

Christie netted twice in the first-half and one more in the second period before he was substituted off.

He’s already impressed during the club’s European games this campaign, with three goals in four matches before Saturday’s league fixture.

The attack-minded midfielder is turning into a major goal threat and aged 24 it looks like he’s beginning to mature.

Lennon’s team now turn their attention to a third round Champions League qualifier against Romanian side CFR Cluj, where they will be looking to progress in Europe.
