Pundit John Hartson has heaped huge praise on Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer – and many of the club’s supporters couldn’t agree more with his comments.

The young centre-back has made 36 senior appearances across all competitions this season and is beginning to thrive under current manager Neil Lennon.

He is a towering colossus that moved to Parkhead back in 2016 as a teenager and has now developed into an important first teamer for the Scottish giants.

Ajer, 20, put in a commanding display at the weekend to help Celtic win the Old Firm match at home to Rangers 2-1, which also effectively wrapped up the league title race.

“I was always a fan of Kristoffer Ajer who had his best game for Celtic on Sunday,” Ex-Celtic striker Hartson wrote in the Glasgow Evening Times.

“I like the way he plays out from the back. He reads the game a lot better and has improved in the air.

“Ajer came in for a bit of stick earlier in the season, but he’s been great since the winter break. I’m delighted for him.”

A selection of Celtic fans on social media believe Hartson hit the nail on the head with his assessment of the defender and expect him to be a key player moving forward.

The Norway international certainly has a physical presence in the heart of the backline, while he’s comfortable on the ball too and has a good range of passing.

He could become crucial moving into next season and it appears now like he’s beginning to really consolidate his spot in the starting XI.

Here are Celtic fans that raved about their defender Ajer following Hartson’s comments:
