Kyogo Furushashi was at the centre of another Celtic win on Sunday afternoon as Ange Postecoglou’s side exacted revenge on Hearts. Following a 2-1 defeat earlier this month, Celtic knocked Hearts out of the League Cup on Sunday. Celtic fans were amazed by a moment of genius from Kyogo.
Kyogo, 26, has been in incredible form. Quickly becoming a fan favourite because of his work rate, movement and smile, the Japan international has a whopping five goals in five games. A hat-trick in his first league start during a 6-0 win over Dundee certainly endeared him to the Celtic support.
On Sunday, he swept a gorgeous left-footed strike into the top corner from a tight-ish angle – a goal that proved to be the winner. Earlier on in the match, Odsonne Edouard had tapped home a gorgeous Celtic move while Stephen Welsh also netted. It was the defender’s second goal in 27 Celtic games.
What are Celtic fans saying about Kyogo and his pass?
But it was not a goal that caught the eye, not as much as his pass during the lead-up to the first goal – anyway. A beautiful goal, that saw Celtic’s precision, passing and movement completely carve open a bewildered Hearts defence. David Turnbull set Kyogo free on the left flank.
With a flash of the outside of his right foot, Kyogo curled a beautiful pass around the back of left-back Alex Cochrane. James Forrest took a touch before squaring to Edouard – who netted his second of the season with a lovely finish. Celtic fans are drooling on Twitter over Kyogo and his pass.
