Celtic may have wrapped up the Scottish Premiership title but that shouldn’t have taken any of the sting out of their trip to Ibrox to face Rangers yesterday.
It did, however, as the Gers ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Scott Arfield to lay down a signal of their intent ahead of next season.
Steven Gerrard’s men came flying out of the traps, catching a Celtic side who were short on invention and energy napping – and the Bhoys never recovered.
Celtic can take consolation from the fact they have a cup final to look forward to but although Neil Lennon may oversee a treble, there is no shortage of discontent.

In contrast to the passing football Brendan Rodgers brought to Celtic, Lennon’s safety first tactics have felt like a step back and he has been consistently unable to alter the course of a match from the bench.
Yesterday’s result tried the patience of the Celtic supporters and many do not want him to get the job on a permanent basis.
We’ve put together the best of the reaction after a humbling afternoon for the reigning champions…
