Celtic fans don't agree with Postecoglou's failure to use Bolingoli
Some Celtic fans cannot believe Ange Postecoglou did not bring on Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo during last night’s Europa League clash.
What’s the story?
In just the 24th minute of the clash with AZ Alkmaar, Greg Taylor went off injured. However, instead of bringing on experienced left-back Bolingoli, Postecoglou opted for youngster Adam Montgomery.
That may hint at what the Australian thinks of the Belgian defender.
Bolingoli has struggled for regular game time since his move from Rapid Vienna in 2019.
After making just 28 appearances in his debut season in Glasgow, he was sent on loan to Istanbul Basaksehir last season. However, the move proved to be a flop with the ace making just 18 appearances.
His time in Scotland has been marred with controversy. He took an unauthorised trip to Spain, failing to notify the club or quarantine on his return. The 26-year-old subsequently played in the following fixture against Kilmarnock.
Celtic need to use Bolingoli more often this season
While his time at Celtic has been marred somewhat, the Bhoys need to use Bolingoli more this season.
Left-back is one of the most under-threat positions given the options available to Postecoglou.
Both Taylor and Montgomery are far from suitable figures to carry on for a whole season.
Montgomery is just 18 and has made only eight senior appearances in his whole career.
Meanwhile, Taylor has just picked up an injury, leaving him in danger of an extended spell on the sidelines.
Here is how some Celtic fans reacted…

Based off experience, Boli Bolingoli has to come on ahead of Adam Montgomery – been in this situation many times before between the Champions League & Europa League.— Calum MacMillan (@CalumMac1997) August 26, 2021
