A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Kieran Tierney’s decision to pay tribute to his former club ahead of his Arsenal debut on Tuesday night.
Tierney had been injured since arriving at the Emirates from Parkhead in the summer. However, Unai Emery handed the Scotland international the chance to start against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

And despite leaving Celtic, Tierney was clearly determined to show that the club remain close to his heart. As reported by the Daily Record, the left-back had the word, ‘Bhoys’ stitched into one of his boots ahead of his Arsenal bow.
It was to prove to be a fantastic night for the youngster. Arsenal cruised through to the next round of the competition with a 5-0 win, and Tierney appeared to really impress the Gunners fans.

Celtic fans divided
But his decision to recognise Celtic appears to have divided the Hoops fans on social media. Plenty have praised the defender and insisted that he should remain a popular figure amongst the fans. However, others have disagreed.
A section of the fanbase believe that Tierney should move on having left the club. It appears that they feel that he is trying too hard to remain a Celtic hero to appease those fans upset about his departure.
But it certainly does appear that the majority had no problem with the gesture…
