Celtic put in a brave yet defensively lacklustre display against AC Milan at the San Siro on Thursday night after losing a two-goal lead against the Serie A leaders – and Hoops fans have discussed Ismaila Soro’s surprise cameo role.
Having won just two of the previous 10 fixtures, Neil Lennon was under enormous pressure to go to Milan and get a result – even if the Hoops had already been knocked out of the Europa League. They started in excellent fashion.
Goals from Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic gave Celtic an early two-goal lead, but class eventually shone through. Hakan Calhanoglu. Samu Castillejo, Jens Petter Hauge and Brahim Diaz all netted for Milan to win 4-2.

It was hardly a surprise to see Celtic ship four more goals in Europe – now conceding 17 in five Europa League matches, more than any other side in this season’s competition. What was a surprise was Soro’s appearance.
Soro, 22, came off the bench to make only his fourth appearance for the Hoops since joining Lennon’s side in January for a fee of £2million (Sun). The Ivorian played 12 minutes, having replaced captain Scott Brown.
Celtic supporters reacted on Twitter to Soro’s brief display – with the African midfielder still awaiting the chance to start a match under Lennon. Many were impressed, and feel he needs more game time – starting on Sunday.
With St. Johnstone the opponents this weekend, some have urged Lennon to use him over Scott Brown.
