Celtic fans discuss Greg Taylor on Twitter after cup win
A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the performance of Greg Taylor in the Premier Sports Cup final against Hibernian at Hampden Park.
Celtic have their first trophy under Ange Postecoglou with two Kyogo Furuhashi goals seeing them come from behind to beat their Scottish Premiership rivals.
For some Hoops supporters, Taylor’s inclusion in the starting lineup may have come as a surprise. The 24-year-old was an unused substitute in the win at Ross County. And his absence, many felt that Liam Scales did extremely well.
Admittedly, it would have been a big gamble to hand Scales a start in the final at this stage of his Celtic spell. So Taylor was the player to get the chance at Hampden.
And ultimately, it would appear that he made the most of it. Taylor has been a divisive figure throughout his time at Parkhead. And it probably would have pleased plenty of Celtic supporters when it was claimed on Sunday that Postecoglou is monitoring Callum Styles at Barnsley.
But Taylor was brilliant in the final. Some lauded the way he seemed to be all over the pitch. And several suggested that he was one of Celtic’s best players against Hibs.
‘Been great today’: Celtic fans react to Greg Taylor display
He certainly has plenty more still to do before he silences all of his doubters at Parkhead. But Sunday’s performance was definitely an encouraging sign given what Postecoglou has done with a number of the players within his squad in the early stages of his tenure.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Celtic fans were saying about Taylor’s performance against Hibernian before he was replaced in the latter stages of the cup final…

Greg Taylor has been immense. Shame to see him go off, hope it’s not an injury that will see him sidelined for a few weeks.

Surprisingly Greg Taylor has been one of our standouts today.
Just behind Rogic, who’s been magic again.

Greg Taylor seems to have taken to the inverted full-back role pretty quickly considering he’s not played a great deal under Ange, could be the making of him 🍀
