A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments from Brendan Rodgers – which have been reported by the Daily Record – concerning Filip Benkovic and a potential Parkhead return.
Neil Lennon surely needs to sign a new defender in this window. The Hoops have lost Christopher Jullien to a long-term injury. Meanwhile, Shane Duffy has been hugely disappointing since his arrival.

Celtic fans would have been forgiven for starting the calls for Benkovic to come back after he was recalled by Leicester City from his loan spell at Cardiff City earlier this week.
And those hoping to see the 23-year-old return to Celtic have received a big boost. Rodgers – who was in charge when Benkovic previously joined the Bhoys on loan – has left the door open for the centre-back to rejoin Celtic.

“It’s certainly a possibility. It’s a huge club and he did very well there. We haven’t had any contact but he’s back now and we will see what happens,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.
“Celtic would be a great move for him. He’s at the age where he really needs to be playing and that didn’t quite materialise at Cardiff.”
The comments have prompted a strong response on social media. Plenty appear to feel that it is an open goal for Lennon to act and get Benkovic in.
Benkovic did struggle with injury while at Parkhead. However, when he was involved, he was often outstanding. And many obviously feel that he would go straight into Lennon’s best lineup if he did return.
There are some who are less convinced. Benkovic’s injury record is a concern. And some have no interest in a loan deal and feel that he should only be signed if Leicester are open to selling the £13 million defender permanently.
With that in mind, here is how some of the fans have reacted to Rodgers’s comments…
