Celtic are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Tottenham and USA defender Cameron Carter-Vickers. The Record say Celtic are in talks over a permanent deal for the £5million-rated centre-back. Here is what a handful of Celtic fans think of the arrival of Tottenham man Carter-Vickers.
The 23-year-old has endured a pretty tumultuous career so far. Having come through the Spurs academy, the eight-time USA international has since gone on loan six times to England’s second tier – clocking up 113 appearances at Championship level, for the likes of Luton and Ipswich.
His last spell came at Bournemouth, and he impressed. Under the guidance of ex-Spurs, Leeds and Real Madrid gaffer Jonathan Woodgate, he helped Bournemouth reach the play-offs – but lose in the semi-finals. Of course, Bournemouth remain interested – but Celtic are leading the charge.

What have Celtic fans said about signing Carter-Vickers from Tottenham?
Celtic are in urgent need of central defenders under Ange Postecoglou. Shane Duffy has returned to Brighton, and Kris Ajer is expected to leave this summer – with his contract also expiring in 2022. It leaves Celtic with just Stephen Welsh, Nir Bitton and Christopher Jullien.
The latter spent the majority of last season injured. Bitton is naturally a midfielder and Welsh is still a rookie. A centre-back or two is crucial. At £5million, £20k-a-week (Spotrac) Carter-Vickers is a real possibility – as does Carl Starfelt with a deal ‘imminent’. Celtic fans want Carter-Vickers signed.
